They are also highly regarded by culinary experts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our favorite spots include Stara Ku\u017ania in Przykop, Barka in Pra\u017cm\u00f3w, and in Rydzewo: the Portuguese food truck Prato-Do Dia, Gospoda pod Czarnym \u0141ab\u0119dziem, T\u0142o dla Mew (wood-fired pizza), Port-o-Wino, Ukrai\u0144ska, Stary M\u0142yn in Upa\u0142y, Ewa\u2019s fry-up spot in Okart\u00f3w, and Rybacz\u00f3wka in Bogaczewo. A bit further out, but definitely worth the trip, are S\u0142owicz\u00f3wka in Ukta, Ober\u017ca pod Psem in Kadzid\u0142owo, and Potocki Ga\u0142kowo. Some of these are only open seasonally, so be sure to check their websites or ask us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.starakuznia.com.pl\/index.php\/karczma\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.starakuznia.com.pl\/index.php\/karczma\/\">&#8220;Stara Ku\u017ania&#8221; Inn<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 Przykop, 8.5 km \u2013 Ranked first in Warmia and Masuria in the Gault &amp; Millau guide. The only restaurant in the region to receive 13 points, or 2 toques! Unique dishes and a unique, idyllic atmosphere: an old barn, a hearth where meat and fish are grilled. You can dine indoors or outdoors under the open sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Black Swan Inn<\/strong> in Rydzewo (15 km), located by the harbor on Lake Niegocin. A member of the Warmia, Mazury, and Powi\u015ble Culinary Heritage network. Featured in the 2019 Gault&amp;Millau Guide. A traditional interior, a fireplace, antique furniture, and fishing nets.&nbsp;The atmosphere of an old Prussian inn from over 100 years ago. Regional cuisine, specialties of Polish, Prussian, and Lithuanian cuisine. Open during the season, and off-season from Friday to Sunday<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ukrainian Restaurant<\/strong> <strong>&#8211; Spichlerz u Tolka <\/strong>in Rydzewo (15 km) &#8211; delicious! Ukrainian borscht, pelmeni, cherry dumplings, and more! In addition to Ukrainian dishes, they also serve Polish cuisine. Open during the season, and from Friday to Sunday during the off-season<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barka Pra\u017cmowo (19 km)<\/strong> \u2013 featured in the Gault &amp; Millau guide. A unique spot on an old barge on the water! From their website: &#8220;Travel and our roots are our main sources of inspiration. Our menu is a blend of Polish, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisines. Due to our location, we\u2019re a casual spot, often referred to as \u2018Sto\u00f3wka.\u2019 We want you to catch our love for local and seasonal products.\u201d Open seasonally<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rybacz\u00f3wka<\/strong> Bogaczewo 23 km &#8211; In Rybacz\u00f3wka, overlooking the lake, everything revolves around fish served in a variety of ways\u2014baked, fried, smoked, marinated\u2014with no frozen products, additives, or preservatives, sourced daily from local fishermen. The highlight is whole fish baked in the oven\u2014zander, sturgeon, perch, and trout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Old Mill in Upa\u0142ty<\/strong> (19 km) \u2013 traditional Polish and Masurian dishes made with ingredients from local farmers. Delicious and atmospheric. Lake view. Polish cuisine. We recommend zander, pierogi, pork chops, bigos, and apple pancakes. An incredible selection of liqueurs\u2014quince, dogwood, sea buckthorn, white lilac, black currant\u2026Open year-round<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pepe &amp; Lola in Kozin<\/strong> \u2013 pasta &amp; pizza. A charming spot. Great food. Open seasonally<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>S\u0142owicz\u00f3wka in Ukta<\/strong>, 42 km \u2013 Masuria from the kitchen. We love this place! Dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients.&nbsp;Everything is delicious! Without exception. Plus, the atmosphere is great. And while you\u2019re there, you can pop over to Wojnowo on the Krutynia River, check out the Old Believers\u2019 Orthodox church, visit the wildlife park in Kadzid\u0142owo, or the Ferenstain horse farm. <strong>Open year-round<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zamekryn.pl\/kuchnia\/restauracja-mazury\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zamekryn.pl\/kuchnia\/restauracja-mazury\"><strong>Ryn Castle<\/strong><\/a>, the former seat of the commander, where the knights of the Order dined on game and fish from the surrounding forests and lakes, calls for refined manners reflected both in the elegance of the table and in the meticulous preparation of the dishes. Featured in Gault &amp; Millau<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oberzapodpsem.com.pl\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.oberzapodpsem.com.pl\/\">Ober\u017ca Pod Psem<\/a> <\/strong>in Kadzid\u0142owo. Definitely one of our favorite places. It has been awarded a Gault &amp; Millau hat for its excellent cuisine and the atmosphere of an old Masurian cottage. Second place in Masuria\u2014a whopping 12.5 points! And right next door, the Wild Animal Park, an attraction for kids and adults alike. Open year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galkowo.pl\/restauracja\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.galkowo.pl\/restauracja\"><strong>Ga\u0142kowo Potocki Restaurant<\/strong><\/a>: A historic huntsman\u2019s manor, relocated and restored by owner Aleksander Potocki. Great atmosphere, a fireplace, a garden, and meadows. The cuisine continues the culinary tradition of \u201cKnajpa u Targowiczan,\u201d which was previously located at the Ferenstein Family Horse Farm. The specialty is regional dishes, prepared according to traditional recipes using natural and fresh ingredients. Nearby is the well-known and friendly stud farm in Ga\u0142k\u00f3w. You can sign up for riding lessons\u2014in the paddock or cross-country. <strong>Open year-round.<\/strong> Off-season on weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gworek.pl\/restauracja\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.gworek.pl\/restauracja\">Go\u015bciniec G\u0142odowo<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 fish! Zander in butter with capers, Polish-style pike, fish soups, fish tartare. Next door is a small processing plant producing mainly fish products based on local recipes.&nbsp; Chef Mirek Gworek has appeared on many cooking shows and published the book Mazurskie Specja\u0142y z Ryb (Masurian Fish Specialties). An expert on and lover of Masuria. By the way, in nearby Nied\u017awiedzi R\u00f3g, there\u2019s a beautiful view of Lake \u015aniardwy in the buffer zone of the Piska Forest. <strong>Open seasonally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>I won\u2019t deny that we sometimes eat at the Toscana restaurant in Orzysz. It\u2019s a bit different in style from the others mentioned above, but they have really good soups and some dishes, which we usually get to go. The pizza is good, too. Since there\u2019s been an influx of customers from the nearby U.S. military base lately, the quality has clearly improved\u2014the owner really puts in the effort.
